Dr. Apurba Pal is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering, School of Engineering & Technology, Adamas University, Kolkata. He earned his PhD in Structural Engineering from the National Institute of Technology (NIT), Durgapur, where his doctoral research focused on the development of Artificial Intelligence based models for fault detection and localization in railway tracks using sensor data. His research expertise spans Structural Health Monitoring, Acoustic Emission (AE) techniques, Earthquake Engineering, Concrete Technology, and the application of Machine Learning and Deep Learning for real-time damage detection in civil infrastructure. He has extensive hands-on experience in laboratory and field experimentation, including the use of AE sensors, temperature monitoring, and data-driven modeling for complex engineering systems. He has published several research articles in reputed SCI- and SCOPUS-indexed journals in AI based damage localization techniques. Dr. Pal is actively involved in teaching undergraduate and postgraduate courses and laboratories, and he is strongly motivated to advance smart, sensor-based monitoring technologies for safer and more resilient infrastructure systems.
